HalalKhao ("we", "our", or "us") operates the HalalKhao mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our App. Please read this policy carefully. - Account Information: When you register, we collect your name and email address.
- Location Data: With your permission, we collect your device's precise location to show nearby halal restaurants. Location is used only while the App is in use and is never stored on our servers.
- Photos: With your permission, we access your photo library solely to allow you to upload photos with your restaurant reviews. Photos are stored securely via Firebase Storage.
- Usage Data: We collect information about how you interact with the App (screens visited, features used, favorites saved) to improve the experience.
- Review Content: Any reviews or ratings you submit are stored and may be displayed publicly within the App.
- Purchase Information: Subscription purchases are processed through Apple App Store or Google Play. We do not collect or store your payment card details. Purchase status is managed via RevenueCat.

3. Data Storage and Security
Your account data and reviews are stored in Google Firebase (Firestore), which is hosted in the United States. We implement industry-standard security measures including encrypted data transmission (HTTPS/TLS) and Firebase Security Rules to restrict unauthorized access.
While we take reasonable precautions, no method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.
4. Data Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information. We may share data with:
- Firebase (Google LLC): Authentication, database, and storage services.
- RevenueCat, Inc.: Subscription and in-app purchase management.
- Resend: Transactional email delivery.
- Law enforcement: If required by law or to protect the rights and safety of our users.
5. Location Data
Location access is requested only when you use the "Nearby" feature and only while the App is in the foreground ("When In Use" permission). We do not track your location in the background, and location data is never transmitted to or stored on our servers.
6. Children's Privacy
The App is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us immediately and we will delete it.
7. Your Rights and Choices
- Access & Correction: You may update your account information within the App settings.
- Deletion: You may request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us at halalkhao@outlook.com. We will process requests within 30 days.
- Location: You can revoke location permission at any time in your device settings.
- Photos: You can revoke photo library access at any time in your device settings.
- Marketing Emails: You may opt out of non-transactional emails by contacting us.
8. Data Retention
We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you request account deletion, we will remove your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.
9. Third-Party Links
The App may display links to third-party restaurant websites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites and encourage you to review their privacy policies.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by updating the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
